Managing employee attendance digitally indeed sounds like a good idea. However, recording attendance and screening of visitors requires robust and thoughtful technology, which only a few providers offer. Truein is a powerful tool that helps record attendance and provide entries to visitors based on accurate face recognition based on machine learning and AI. Truein, therefore, has garnered much praise from all quarters as it made facial recognition much simpler and more accurate for its clients.

Today, we bring you an interview with Mr. Ankit Tanna, the CEO of Truein, where he talks about his mission, vision, and future plans.

In Conversation with Mr. Ankit Tanna, CEO of Truein

Here’s an excerpt from the interview:

A warm welcome from SoftwareSuggest Mr. Ankit. Our readers are keen to know what prompted you to create Truein and foray into Employee Attendance and Visitor management? Tell us about your journey so far.

During my previous venture, I used to visit many large organizations for sales and other business meetings. The first impression at the entrance of most organizations was so great usually. Cumbersome processes at the entrance was the major reason which puts you off. For obvious reasons, all workplaces have to maintain records of their visitors and even more meticulous records for employee attendance. That being said, this makes the company seem less welcoming than it really is.

I dug down to understand more about the problem. There were gaps in capturing attendance especially for contractual staff, there were faded thumbprints issues and existing Face recognition devices had accuracy limitations. In the case of visitors’ entry, collecting details or knowing who is on the premises in real-time was another unsolved problem.

This is where I saw an opportunity to build Truein, a face recognition based staff attendance and visitor entry software. We leverage AI-based face recognition, other computer vision, and ML technologies to create a truly seamless experience in capturing data or identifying people.

How has Truein equipped itself to deal with the Covid-19 situation better?

We were already quite remote-friendly. Our sales and customer onboarding were majorly done remotely. Our team did meet few enterprise customers onsite, however, thanks to Covid that too moved to the remote setup.
As soon as Covid hit us, we quickly got ourselves equipped with tools and processes to manage operations remotely.

What updates and advancements are being made at Truein to help your clients navigate in the new normal?

Very first, we trained our Face recognition system to identify people with their face masks on. And did other feature upgrades like fully touchless mode, Covid safety declaration, Arogya setu integration, etc. This helped our customers to increase safety at their premises especially post lockdown when they resumed office.

What is your vision and plan for taking Truein to greater heights in the next 5 years?

I see Truein to be a leading global SaaS company in the entrance domain. I would like to see product-led growth, which is at the heart of our long-term vision.

What motivates and strengthens you to keep up with the competition?

Focus on customers and not just competition is how I would like to strengthen ourselves. More often than not it is not the competition, but not having deeper insights about your customers is where you lose business.

What advice would you give to young entrepreneurs starting out in this field?

Think for the long term but keep an eye on intermediate small milestones. I believe opting for a fast strategy isn’t an alternative to good planning. A deep understanding of your target market and good planning always helps.
