Highlights:

  • ¡Hola! (Hispanic Organization for Leadership and Achievement) is one of RingCentral’s newest Employee Resource Groups
  • As part of our ongoing focus on diversity and inclusion, we put added emphasis on hiring veterans and helping them thrive at RingCentral

RingCentral’s mission is “to power human connections.” No other company I’ve ever worked for has lived up to their mission the way we do. So, here’s the second half of my still-too-short list of the things we’ve achieved together this year:

JULY – This blog post started out as a roundup of all the awards our company and culture have earned over the past year. I’m certainly proud of those, but awards alone don’t sum us up. (Plus, it’s a long list, which would make a boring blog post.) But, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the results we saw from Comparably’s Leadership Awards 2021 in July: #2 Best CEO for Diversity, #2 Best Leadership Team, #6 Best CEO for Women and #16 Best Company for Career Growth. When you consider these rankings are pulled from 10 million anonymous employee responses across 60,000 companies, you understand the true purpose of this post – to reinforce the idea that our mission and our purpose really matter.

AUGUST – Powering human connections means powering everyone. Which is why I found our efforts on behalf of disabled employees and customers so inspiring. As one article states, “…When and wherever we discover a need, we approach it as an opportunity – how can we make our products and services accessible to a wider audience?” That’s the embodiment of our mission. And a great example of how it benefits both our own employees and the world at large.

SEPTEMBER – As I mentioned in Part 1, Employee Resource Groups were a critical asset this past year—spreading knowledge, expanding community, and ensuring every employee feels comfortable, empowered and involved. So it was great to see ¡Hola! (Hispanic Organization for Leadership and Achievement) take flight this year. The slate of Hispanic History Month activities they put together made it seem as if they’d been around for much longer than a few months. When we add the coordination that’s already taking place with other ERGs, and I think we’ll see big things from ¡Hola! next year.

OCTOBER – Our partnership with the Transition N2 Tech Fellowship is exciting and inspiring – it’s an innovative program that gives people from underserved communities a foot in the door of the tech industry. Transition N2 Tech is the kind of immediate, concrete action that makes a difference in people’s lives and in the technology community at large. Participants rave about RingCentral’s level of involvement, and we’ve been thoroughly impressed with their work in turn.

NOVEMBER – In September, RingCentral was granted a Unified License by the Indian Department of Telecommunications, making the company the first fully-compliant UCaaS provider in the country. Great news for our bottom line…and a pretty solid segue into the ways our employees around the world celebrated the festival of Diwali. Diwali celebrates the triumph of light over darkness, and if that isn’t “powering human connection,” I don’t know what is. Finally, November wouldn’t be November without remembering the contributions of our military veterans – a community that never seems to stop finding ways to connect with—and help others.

DECEMBER – The month isn’t over yet, but there’s plenty to celebrate, from the company’s continued expansion in India to the Mitel partnership, and best of all, our (fingers crossed!) return to office in early 2022.

On behalf of everyone on the People team, I want to thank all of you for not only persevering through a tough 2021, but helping our company thrive, innovate, and most of all, truly live our mission of powering human connection. Have a safe and happy holiday season! #HelloTo2022
