  • RingCentral has been in Comparably’s top 10 Best Companies for Diversity numerous times; 2021 is the company’s first #1 ranking.

All of us at RingCentral are truly honored to have earned the top ranking in Comparably’s “Best Companies for Diversity 2021.” For Chief People Officer Gunjan Aggarwal, our culture is a critical element of our success in the marketplace: “Our employees have created a culture where they want everyone to feel that they belong, and that they’re able to contribute. It is not surprising that the more people feel comfortable contributing, the more innovative the company becomes. The last year has been stellar for RingCentral in terms of the product advancements made and delivered to our customers. As a company, we prioritize building a culture and processes that ensure every employee is able to do their best, and feel proud of their accomplishments and their contributions. We know we are not perfect but we most certainly try to be the most dynamic version of ourselves at work! “

At RingCentral, we believe diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) is the foundation to building a culture of belonging for our employees.

Here’s a sneak-peak into the things we do to strengthen our diversity, equity and inclusion efforts, and what that means for the future.

Set your goals, get to work.

Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion team mapped out three major goals for 2021: Equity for historically underrepresented groups, gender equality and minority community advocacy. We don’t claim to have “solved” any of these issues. But we chipped away at all of them, and we’re proud of the progress we were able to make. We’re also grateful to our Employee Resource Groups for leading the way. “Diversity, equity and inclusion start from the top, but the “grass-roots” efforts our employees put in – from Employee Resource Groups to charitable and philanthropic priorities are just as important,” says Aggarwal.

Our pillars

Our progress toward our goals was guided by the company’s pillars of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

“Diversity, equity and inclusion don’t just happen,” says Senior Global Diversity Equity & Inclusion Leader Danita Oliver. “They have to be executive priorities. The pillars we’ve put in place exemplify that. They help steer our efforts and keep our purpose in clear focus.”

Diversity

Our product works for every country and industry—and success depends on the diversity of our team.

Equity

We’re committed to hiring talent from underrepresented groups, reducing unconscious bias, and prioritizing every employee’s career path.

Inclusion

We’re committed to developing an inclusive workforce, ensuring our employees are as diverse as the customers we serve.

The payoff.

Diversity isn’t just good press. It’s good business. McKinsey’s research finds that “companies in the top quartile for gender or racial and ethnic diversity are more likely to have financial returns above their national industry medians…and is probably a competitive differentiator that shifts market share over time.” That definitely seems to be true. With a market capitalization of over $18 billion, and 30%+ annual growth, RingCentral is now the largest and fastest-growing pure-play provider in the Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS) space.

What’s next?

Ensuring that the sense of belonging and connection that’s so ingrained in our culture influences every business decision we make, from hiring employees to partnering with suppliers to supporting customer communities. That focus on purpose strengthens our culture. Changes the way we work. And hopefully, makes us a little better today than we were yesterday.  We’re honored to be named “Best Company for Diversity.” And incredibly excited about the possibilities ahead.
