In short

TaskPriced compares what AI API calls actually cost per task, including prompt caching and long-context price cliffs, using official OpenAI and Anthropic list prices with source links and verification dates.

About TaskPriced

TaskPriced compares what AI API calls actually cost per task rather than per token. Most published rate tables stop at input and output prices per million tokens, which hides the two effects that dominate real bills: prompt caching and long-context pricing bands.

TaskPriced keeps one row per model, service tier, and context band, with the official source URL and the date the rate was verified. Batch and flex tiers, fast and ultrafast multipliers, cache reads, and cache writes are first-class inputs, so a cached agent workload and a cold one produce different totals.

Worked example: a support assistant that sends a 40k-token system prompt on every request looks cheap on a per-token table, but once cache reads are priced and the request crosses a long-context threshold, the ranking between models can change. TaskPriced makes that crossing visible before a provider is committed to.

The model cost calculator produces monthly estimates per model with the tier and cache settings you choose, and exports CSV. The usage audit tool takes an OpenAI or Anthropic usage export, recomputes spend against the same official rates, reconciles it against a recorded cost within one cent, and models a migration to another model with an exportable plan. Everything runs locally in the browser and files are never uploaded.

Numbers are labelled exact, estimate, or range. Where a vendor publishes no rate for a combination, the site says Unsupported rather than filling the gap with a guess. TaskPriced is free, needs no account, and is independent of OpenAI and Anthropic.

What problem does it solve?

AI API bills are hard to predict. Published rate tables list a price per million tokens, but real spend also depends on service tiers, prompt caching, and long-context pricing bands that most tables ignore. Teams comparing OpenAI and Anthropic models often find out which model was cheaper only after the invoice arrives. TaskPriced turns official list prices into a per-task cost comparison, so the caching and long-context effects that change the ranking between models are visible before a provider is chosen.

What you can do with it

Estimate the monthly cost of a described workload on each OpenAI and Anthropic model, with service tier, cache read, and cache write settings. Compare two models under the same workload. Recompute actual spend from an OpenAI or Anthropic usage export and reconcile it against a recorded cost figure. Model a switch from one model to another and export the migration plan as CSV. Check which model and tier is cheapest for a workload that crosses a long-context pricing threshold.

Key features

  • Official list pricing for OpenAI and Anthropic models, each row with its vendor source link and verification date
  • Model cost calculator with service tiers: batch and flex at 50 percent, fast at 2x, ultrafast at 6x
  • Cache read and cache write pricing included in every estimate
  • Long-context price cliffs modelled per request instead of an averaged per-token rate
  • Usage audit that recomputes spend from an OpenAI or Anthropic usage export and reconciles it within one cent
  • Model-switch modelling with CSV migration plan export
  • Explicit Unsupported status instead of guessed numbers for unpublished combinations
  • Runs in the browser: usage files are never uploaded
  • Free and no account required

Who it’s for

Developers, platform and infrastructure engineers, and technical founders who choose between OpenAI and Anthropic APIs and need to justify that choice on cost. It also suits finance and operations partners who review AI spend, and anyone auditing an existing AI bill against official list prices.

Recommended for: Engineering and platform teams comparing OpenAI and Anthropic API costs, technical founders pricing an AI feature, and finance partners auditing AI spend.

Developer

Not designed for

It is not a general AI model leaderboard, a quality benchmark, or a chatbot. It does not provide API keys, proxies, or routing, and it does not negotiate or resell vendor pricing. It is not a billing system of record and it does not connect to a cloud account; the usage audit runs on a file you open in the browser. It does not cover image, video, audio, or embedding model pricing, and it does not guess rates a vendor has not published.
