Dear Name of Receiver:

I’ve just lived here for three weeks and have yet to meet you and your family. I made several unsuccessful attempts to contact you at your home. 

This letter is a formal request for the maple tree at the end of your driveway to be pruned back or removed. 

The tree’s roots are buckling the security fence separating our houses, which could become dangerous, and it has a number of dead or decaying branches. 

I’ll pay to have the tree removed and the security fence fixed at my expense. If the tree can be sold for wood, you will receive any profit. 

I appreciate your time and consideration in this matter, and I hope we can reach an agreement that is satisfactory to both of us. I can be reached by phone or email, but I want to meet you in person soon.
